Southern Can Making Company is committed for creating and sustaining long-term value for our stakeholders and valuing the conservation of environment is paramount to our business growth. We continually innovate in order to improve production efficiency and capability without creating any negative impact to the environment.
Energy
Aside from our existing energy efficiency and conservation efforts, we are continually looking for ways to further improve our capability to minimize the environmental impact of our manufacturing facility. Our focus is as follows,
- Improving line efficiency is a major measure to reduce energy usage in our production. It is one of target for our production processes and monitored per shift and on daily basis.
- Upgrading old equipment control system with high energy consumption by new technology system with lower energy consumption.
- It is planned to improve power factor by installing capacitor banks.
Water
We are strictly following and improving our water conservation practices.
- Our new waste water treatment plant with 50% water recycle will reduce raw water consumption from our production process by 40% to 50%. Also, water discharge from the system will be used for our landscaping irrigation. It also saves raw water consumption by 10%.
- We implement strict water conservation program by controlling overflow from our can washing process. Water consumption of production process is monitored on daily basis to address any abnormal consumption.
Waste
We are putting our highest priority to our waste management strategies with the following current practices and plans,
- Our continuous journey on metal coil down-gauging process has allowed us to reduce the amount of steel and aluminum waste while making sure the generated waste is fully recycled and reused by industrial clients.
- Strict control of spoilage from production is a measure to reduce waste from our production.
- Searching and using more environment-friendly and low-energy consumption materials is one of our means to reduce waste and pollution.
- Our plan is to implement ISO 14000 system to be more systematic in control of waste and pollution.
